Transmission & Responsibility

This page explains how the system is passed from teacher to student, what transmission means in traditional training, and the responsibility carried by both teacher and student in preserving the accuracy of the system.

Transmission, Not Information

Transmission does not begin when something is given. It begins when something is recognized.

What is shown externally is limited.
What is received depends on the state of the practitioner.

If the body is not aligned, it cannot receive structure.
If the breath is not regulated, it cannot carry force.
If the mind is unstable, it cannot hold direction.

For this reason, transmission is not controlled by the teacher alone. It is determined by the condition of the student.

The same teaching produces different results.
This difference is the measure of readiness.

The Lineage

This system exists because it has not been broken. Each generation receives the same principles, not as theory, but as lived experience.
The role of the lineage is not to preserve history, but to preserve accuracy.

If a movement is altered, its function changes.
If its function changes, its meaning is lost.

For this reason:
What is passed on is exact.

The student does not inherit ideas.
The student enters a current that already exists.

A Living System

At the surface, training is visible.
Underneath, the work is precise.

Structure must be established until it holds without effort.
Breath must be regulated until it moves without control.
Attention must be stabilized until it does not drift.

Without internal coordination:

  • strength is local
  • speed is disconnected
  • technique is empty

With internal coordination:

  • the body moves as one unit
  • force is continuous
  • action does not require preparation

Only when these are unified does practice become functional.
Before that, movement is imitation.
After that, movement carries intent.

This is the threshold where the system begins to operate.

Responsibility of the Teacher

The teacher is responsible for the accuracy of transmission.
This responsibility requires restraint.

To give too much, too early, creates confusion.
To explain what has not yet been embodied creates illusion.

For this reason, the teacher must:

The teacher does not adjust the system to the student.
The student must align with the system.

Compassion without structure weakens the path.
Structure without clarity blocks it.

The teacher does not follow the student’s pace.
The teacher maintains the system’s standard.

Responsibility of the Student

The student must abandon selection. Preference interferes with development.
Understanding must follow practice, not guide it.

At higher levels, the difficulty is not learning more.

It is removing what is
unnecessary.

What remains must be precise.

The student must
refine:

Without control, there is no refinement.
Without refinement, there is no depth.

Preservation of the Teaching

The system is transmitted in stages.

Each stage builds a specific capacity:

If the foundation is unstable, higher levels cannot function correctly. For this reason, progression is controlled.
This is not secrecy. It is precision.

When students move ahead without foundation:

This is how systems deteriorate.
Preservation is not protection from others. It is protection from inaccuracy.

Threshold

There is a point where external correction decreases.

At this stage:

  • Structure self-corrects
  • Breath self-regulates
  • Attention remains without effort

Before this point, discipline is imposed.
After this point, discipline is internal.

Few reach this threshold because it requires:
  • Sustained repetition without variation
  • Correction without resistance
  • Stability without interruption
Without these, the system remains partial.

Walking the Path

At first, the student practices the system.
Later, the system begins to shape the student.
Eventually, there is no separation:

Movement is not performed, it arises

Attention is not forced, it remains

Structure is not held, it is present

At this point, transmission is no longer external.
The system continues through direct experience.

What was received is now carried.   |   Without distortion.   |   Without addition.   |   Without loss.

Train Within the System

Transmission cannot be understood through reading alone. It must be experienced through practice, correction, and time.
If you wish to enter the system, you can begin through:
